An outstanding architects plan chest dating from around 1910-20 this plan chest was acquired from an auction estate sale (here in the UK) and had spent it's first 50 years of it's life in colonial home in the West Indies (St Lucia). It has a real 'industrial look' about it and was made most probably for the military or government, judging from it's age and appearance. The plan chest has a wonderful ebonised patina to it - which was quite common with the Victorians in the very early part of the 20th century, with pieces that where of value and importance. It looks great from all angles, benefiting from the industrial side panels, hand-made dovetail joints, bottom solid plinth and would be a really 'eye catcher' in any apartment, rustic dwelling or home that prides itself on quality and style. The draws run perfectly smoothly and spotless inside. As this is the bottom section of a 6 draw, I have put a planked top on it and matched it perfectly colour-wise.
As I am always up and down the country buying/selling it is much easier to call me. PLEASE REMEMBER: that there isn't a continual supply of these ie they don't make them anymore, that is why there is less and less being offered/for sale, less found in auctions/virtually none at big fairs like Newark or Ardingly. If you haven't got one by now - where have you been and I'd be seriously thinking I need to find one, put it this way, I can restore and make pieces better then most and I couldn't make one of these for less then what you can buy an original for.
Measurements for plan chests:
116cm in length
82cm depth
45cm height
