Karlsruhe Ceramic Elephants - Set of 3
This was a commissioned range for VW Germany named 'Africa' 1990 designed by Dietmar Liedke for the ceramic manufacturer Karlsruhe which was established in South West Germany in 1901 by the grand duke Freidrich I. The Factory was badly damaged by bombs in 1944 and was not back into full time production of decorative goods until the 1950's. Many of the early works can be seen at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe. Famous for its Majolika glaze.
