Architects Plan Chest Coffee Table
Architects Plan Chest 4 Drawer Coffee Table circa 1938. Solid brass original cup handles and centre piece card holders. This is a pine chest with solid plank top also in Pine. This piece was rescued from an old M.O.D. site and restored back to it's former glory! The site played a pivotal role in WWII and these chests were used to house the plans for the bouncing bomb (obviously since confidentially removed/destroyed).
These are really striking pieces in the home. they make great coffee tables and retain the history of what they once were They also serve a practical use for storing papers, magazines etc. We have sold these chests to artists/photographers/designers to store their work in as well as museums/galleries etc.
The chest retains it's original locking mechanism to the right side. The key has long since gone missing but we decided to leave the lock on as it is an original feature.
Dimensions: Width: 122cm x Depth: 88cm x Height: 41cm
