Just testing the current market with most probably the finest looking Oak Plan Chest out there I have sold well over 700 plan chests in the past 5 years and this one is right up there with the best. I restored the plan chest by completely sanding, staining and finishing with Fiddes hard wax oil, giving you complete satisfaction and guarantee that you do not have to do anything with it for 2 years or more. The Fiddes company and products represent quality and the wax oil seals the wood so stains such as wine and coffee aren’t an issue. My solid oak tops are 20mm thick and I have hand picked the grain. This 1940’s plan chest looks a golden oak colour and would grace any living room, whether you are rustic, eclectic or classic, making a superb coffee table, with the added bonus of great storage space.
The plan chest would also look fantastic in a bespoke office, gallery or shop. I have also added an oak plinth, thus making the plan chest that bit more refined, as you can see by looking at other examples. The original solid brass handles are so much better than repro and add the finishing touch that others can’t match. The drawers are dovetailed front and back, run smooth and are spotless inside. This 80 year old chap should not be missed if you are genuinely interested.
