Fine Apothecary Cabinet/Set Of Drawers. Original Gold Gilt Work Labelling **SOLD**
A truly fine example of British history regarding Apothecary drawers, from the 19th century.
Each drawer is a delight and I have only cleaned each drawer very carefully, and slightly taken off some of the blackness of the pine carcass that holds the drawers in place. My goodness, it is so well made. The tiny and accurate dovetailing, which, for me as a carpenter, is a joy to behold. The gold gilt writing is pretty much perfect, and when you hold one of the drawers you can but admire the work that has gone into them. The drawers fit snuggly into the pine frame, as one would want.
Of course I can turn and make the 2 mahogany knobs, but, I just wanted folk out there to see the colour, the craftsmanship and the sheer quality of this set of drawers first. Check out the ‘ACID TART’ drawer and tell me that this doesn’t make you smile?!
As, the whole cabinet does.
