Oh, my goodness - this is such a fabulously designed piece. Undoubtedly, you will not come across another, unless you are in New York and visit the Copper Hewitt, Smithsonian Museum, where you can see an original Carlo Zen writing desk. The example here is believed (by Christie's) to be designed after the original. Many of the important works, once they were published in contemporary reviews would have a whole host of local manufacturers and retailers who might have produced something similar to appeal to the popular market. There is no doubting the form of this writing desk is superb and in it's own right a formidable piece of Art Nouveau. I have had experts in art nouveau furniture that have told me that it could well be Italian designed, however, most say it could also be French, as it was brought over from there. Whatever: Italian or French, its definitely not British - it's too flamboyant and sexy!

Of course if it was an original Carlo Zen you would be looking at thousands instead of hundreds but such a well-made, carefully reproduced piece is still highly sought after (try finding another one!) and highly regarded as a fantastic representation of Zen's work.
