influences & inspiration
INSPIRATIONS OF EUROPE'Having lived in Germany's capital city for over 8 years and seeing my youngest son, Finn, born there, I can honestly say that I find Berlin the most inspiring of cities, as well as the most humbling of places to live, visit or simply hang out. As well as having a love of Berlin, various parts of France are intriguing to me, especially Vallauris with its connection to ceramics and Picasso. As a ceramicist myself, I love the work of Roger Capron and Jacques Blin. I also have a connection and love of Holland, especially as the Dutch so readily celebrate the creative arts. These are the places that are high on my list to visit when sourcing treasures.

CERAMICSHaving been introduced to the world of antiques from an early age by my father, I developed a love for ceramics. It has been my long-term goal to introduce some of the finest ceramics from the likes of Roger Capron, Jacques Blin and German companies from the Fat Lava world, such as Ruscha, Roth and Carstens into the interior design world. For me, ceramics should have the same elevated position as paintings in the art world. Having a rich history and the remarkable talent of some ceramists being unquestionable.

DESIGN AND MEWhen travelling though Europe, I search for unique pieces ranging from the quality craftsmanship of the 19th century to the highly stylised & beautiful lines of the mid 20th century; all fitting well into an eclectic interior space. Having been a graphic designer for the Times, a lecturer, a full-time DJ, a sports coach and an owner of a record shop, I have always pursued life with passion and as creative director of The Ark, I continue to do so.
